Tag Days 2021 have been a huge success and are winding down. We would like to send out an extra special "THANK YOU VERY MUCH" to our anonymous match donor who helped us achieve our goal. It has now been EXCEEDED and donations are continuing to come in! We are very excited to be able to start off this school year on a good financial note.
Since this is our last year at South Lakes the Bands will need people to pick up this important event. Since it has been expanded over the last 3 years it can also be easily divided up into smaller roles: 1. Designing/ordering the tags 2. Organizing running the official Day 3. Working with the Pyramid Chair to communicate with our elementary/middle schools' PTAs, lawn signs 4. Communications/advertising 5. Social Media: currently owned and rocked by Debby Boykin! 6. Updating/running the Classy site (need some experience working with website design) Please send us a line at [email protected] for more information on these different roles. Cheers and many thanks, John and Shannen Setlik This Saturday is our first competition of the year, and the first since 2019 – if you can believe it. We are all very excited and we all need to Band together to make this successful. In addition to support on the field with props, we need truck drivers and bus chaperones.
We really need support from our Freshman and Sophomore parents, because you have not had the opportunity do experience a competition, and quite frankly, you will be the ones leading the charge next year. So please volunteer – NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Please sign up on our SUG that came in the weekly email. We are looking forward to recognizing our Marching Band seniors during the football game on Friday, October 8! We could use some extra hands from underclassmen parents in advance to organize some special recognition items for seniors and their families. The time commitment is minimal, but will make a huge impact. We are also looking for a photographer to take photographs at the recognition ceremony at halftime.
Please reach out to Marci Mouritzen at [email protected] if you can help. Along with October 8th being Senior Night, it is also Youth Band Night. Our future Seahawk Band members in 7th and 8th grade will join us at 5:30pm for our tailgate dinner, play with the band in the stands, and stay through 8:30pm to watch the halftime show. Questions about Youth Band Night? Reach out to Gretchen Hazlin at [email protected].
The spirit wear store is still open to pre order your essential band items. We still have NOT met the minimum for stadium seats, grey hoodies, and band Jackets. Remember, cool weather is coming and these items are essential when watching your kids from the stands—BRRRRRRRRR… The store will stay open for 2 more days, closing at Midnight on Tuesday. PLEASE order now! These items are for kids and parents!!!!!
Please go to the store HERE You can also go to our webpage at www.southlakesband.org and look under the Support the Band tab. |
