Topics include return to in-person band activities, mid-year budget review and revisions, senior recognition, sectionals with professional clinicians, and student leadership training. Look for the link in this weeks band email.
In-person Seahawk Band activities will resume in stages for interested students. Please keep in mind that every school is handling in-person activities separately. Our band program is operating within the framework defined by SLHS. Jazz Band will be the first to resume on Monday, 2/22 (SLHS is focusing activities on Mondays). Jazz Band families should watch for communication from SLHS with required paperwork. More information will be provided at Tuesday’s Band Boosters Meeting (e.g., subsequent groups, safety measures, etc.).
Mark your calendar and join us - students and family members - for the Seahawk Bands Virtual Talent Showcase! We have some really amazing entries showing a wide range of talents. We guarantee it’ll be fun to watch! Thanks so much to all who contributed! We’ll send the Zoom link in next week’s band update.
We know how important band has been to our students and we hope that many of our seniors will consider band as part of their college experience. At most colleges, you'll find a variety of musical opportunities on campus and a strong emphasis on school spirit and fun. It's also a great way to acclimate to college! You might also find that there are financial benefits - many colleges offer scholarships and stipends to participate in campus bands (especially marching band) - and those are available to ALL students, regardless of major. CLICK HERE for more information on some specific opportunities and be sure to ask about opportunities at the colleges you're considering! Please email [email protected] if you learn of opportunities not on our list.
