Band Parents,
As we end this band year, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate and thank several people. First and foremost, congratulations to our band students for an amazing year. You thrived under tough circumstances, and brought great joy to the SLHS community and your families. We're incredibly proud of you all. Second, thanks and congratulations to Mr. Fore. This was a challenging year for you as well, but you continue to run a magnificent program that enriches our individual students' lives as well as our community. Third, thank you to all the families who volunteered this year. You helped feed our students, move equipment, wash uniforms, raise and manage finances, find lost hats and music, and so much more. Your support has been amazing, and I am deeply grateful. Fourth, thank you to Melanie Erler, Nikki Matthews, the Nordfelts, Andy Gallagher, the Setliks, and all the other senior families. Your support over the past four years has meant so much to the band program in general and to our students in particular. Finally, I'd like to share a quote from one of the Band Directors who attended the Concert Band Assessment we hosted in March. This speaks to the work of Mr. Fore (and the rest of his instructional staff), the students, parents, and administrators who have developed and supported the SLHS band program. "You all have obviously cultivated a wonderful school community in support of the arts. This weekend you served as a model for how all of our schools should strive to be when we put our best foot forward and host in service of others." Thanks, and have a great Summer. -Paul Thomas The South Lakes HS Band Boosters Association is proud to offer the Grayson Fore 20th
Anniversary Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior who has made significant contributions to the South Lakes HS Band Program and exemplifies the band program’s core values of leadership, teamwork, commitment, and service to the band and its members. The amount of the scholarship is determined by vote of the SLHS Band Boosters Board each year, with a goal of $1,000 awarded annually. This is a one-time award that is disbursed directly to the educational institution. This year, through an anonymous donation, we were able to award three awards. The students who received the G4 Scholarship this year are: Raechel E. Sophie E. Parker T. Thank you to these wonderful student for their dedication and commitment to the SLHS Band. We are better for your hard work and commitment. We wish you the best as you pursue your 13th year. We had a wonderful turnout at the Band Banquet this past Wednesday. Close to 200 people joined the fun and we had amazing food and delighted in the awards given by Mr. Fore. Thank you to everyone that helped make this a success: Marci Mouritzen, Kathleen Ridolfo, Tom and Cori Lee, Donna Pople, Lolita Hart, Melanie Erler, Robyn Tremaine, Christina Blocksom, Amarilys Catacora, Shannen and John Setlik, and everyone else who just showed up and helped. THIS is what makes us an amazing group. Thank you to the Drum Majors Parker Tremaine and Emma Setlik for their passion and leadership, and to all of the section leaders for their mentorship and support. And of course, THANK you to Grayson Fore for teaching our children this past year, and sharing his love of music with them.

Students who have siblings or close friends graduating are welcome to stay at the ceremony but must provide their own transportation back to SLHS. Parents of these students should email Mr. Fore at [email protected] so he knows they have your approval to stay. On the day of the event you should also text your child your seat location so they will know what section to report to once the band departs. This performance will serve as the final exam for all band courses. Students should wear dress clothes. You may of course wear your tux or concert dress, but most traditionally wear shirt tie/nice dress as they may be staying to participate in the graduation with their family. If you are able to chaperone or if you have any questions please email Mr. Fore at [email protected] |
