The last Annual Meeting of the Band Boosters for the school year will be held on June 8th at 7:00pm via Zoom. Please check this week's email for the link. Also, parents/guardians, watch for an email later this week with additional information regarding this meeting, including the proposed slate of officers and voting procedures. Email Melissa with questions: [email protected].
Just a reminder that seniors can turn in any remaining uniform items, garment bags and instruments on Tuesday during laptop/textbook return. Please also check MySchoolBucks and make sure that you have cleared any outstanding band course and material fees no later than Tuesday at 2pm. As seniors know, all fines and fees have to be cleared before they can get their cap & gown.
Students and family members, please join us Wednesday evening at 7:30pm on Zoom for a virtual year-end celebration! We’ll enjoy our traditional year-end slideshow and student leadership will present student superlatives (aka the infamous “paper plate awards”). Link is posted in this week's band email.
Thank you to the MANY folks who made Thursday’s concert and recognition a huge success! It was GREAT to see our amazing band parents working side by side at an event again!! Joe Crowley, Paul Thomas and Jack Thomas organized the heavy lifting on the percussion equipment, chairs, stands and props (fun to see those again!). Laurie Dornak and Stacey Saladyga took care of the senior roses. Jade Horne & Melissa Gifford did the program. Robyn Tremaine assembled the marching band awards. Melissa Gifford and Kimberly Cowell-Meyers got the treats. Kathleen Cramer, Kristy Leary and Shannen Setlik prepped the swag bags. Shannon Evans, the Nijkamp family and Kristy Leary delivered flowers and bags to seniors who were unable to attend. Melissa Gifford and Melanie Erler prepped the buttons for senior parents. The Setlik family took care of the balloons. Christina Blocksom checked in guests at the gate. And a small army of folks put up and took down decorations; stuffed and handed out swag bags; tied balloons; moved, set up, and broke down percussion instruments, chairs and stands; and did all the other little things that made it all work: Kimberly Cowell-Meyers, Joe Crowley, Melanie Erler, Matthew & Shannon Evans, Lolita Hart, Gretchen Hazlin, Rupa Hicks, Kristy Leary, Karen Markle, Carol Peyton, the Sesam family, John and Shannen Setlik, Valerie Sibirsky, Paul Thomas, Jack Thomas, John Viner, and everyone else who pitched in when and where needed. Apologies if we missed someone - we know many stepped in to lend a hand!
Thursday’s event would not have been possible without the support of the South Lakes Administration, so we’d like to thank Mrs. Retzer, Mrs. Winter, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Conte and Mr. Duggan for their support. And a very special thanks to Mrs. Retzer and Mrs. Thomas for coming out to enjoy the music, celebrate our amazing band class of 2021, and cheer on all of our students! We’d also like to thank our awesome band staff - especially Mr. Fore - for making it such a special and successful evening! Saturday was also a busy day for volunteers. Thank you to Christina Blocksom, Andrew Gallagher, Melissa Gifford, Lolita Hart and Rupa Hicks for spending their Saturday morning on band spring cleaning! Over the course of 3 weekends, these and our other (previously named) volunteers cleaned, inventoried and organized all pants, jackets, gauntlets and garment bags, and sorted through and organized a myriad of other materials. Students with missing items will be contacted this week. Just a reminder that the Annual Meeting of the Band Boosters will be held on June 8th at 7:00pm via Zoom. We will briefly recap the year, vote on the 2021-2022 budget, and elect the slate of officers for next year. Please watch your email for an announcement of the slate and voting procedures that will arrive prior to the meeting. Please check this week's band email for the link.
