Band Banquet Recap
We had a wonderful turnout at the Band Banquet this past Wednesday. Close to 200 people joined the fun and we had amazing food and delighted in the awards given by Mr. Fore. Thank you to everyone that helped make this a success: Marci Mouritzen, Kathleen Ridolfo, Tom and Cori Lee, Donna Pople, Lolita Hart, Melanie Erler, Robyn Tremaine, Christina Blocksom, Amarilys Catacora, Shannen and John Setlik, and everyone else who just showed up and helped. THIS is what makes us an amazing group. Graduation June 2
South Lakes Band will perform at the 2022 graduation on June 2, 2022 at George Mason University. All band students, except seniors, will perform together for this event. Our schedule will be as follows on June 2, 2022:
3:00 p.m.- Rehearsal in SLHS Band Room
4:00 p.m.- Bag dinner which student should bring
4:30 p.m.- Load/Depart for GMU
7:30 p.m. - Perform processional for faculty and senior class.
8:00 p.m.- Depart GMU for SLHS
8:45 p.m. - Return to SLHS.
Since June 3 is a school day we will not be staying for the entire ceremony and should be back to SLHS by 9pm.
Students who have siblings or close friends graduating are welcome to stay at the ceremony but must provide their own transportation back to SLHS. Parents of these students should email Mr. Fore at GFore@FCPS.EDU so he knows they have your approval to stay. On the day of the event you should also text your child your seat location so they will know what section to report to once the band departs. This performance will serve as the final exam for all band courses.
Students should wear dress clothes. You may of course wear your tux or concert dress, but most traditionally wear shirt tie/nice dress as they may be staying to participate in the graduation with their family.
If you are able to chaperone or if you have any questions please email Mr. Fore at GFore@FCPS.EDU
At the Spring concert we proposed and approved our 2022 - 2023 Band Board. Thank you to the nomination committee for their help and to EVERYONE who accepted these roles.

Jazz Dessert Concert Recap
The South Lakes Jazz Band hosted its first Jazz Dessert Concert since 2019 on Friday May 20, and it did not disappoint! A capacity crowd enjoyed wonderful musical performances by the Jazz Hawks and An Original Jazz Trio, and delighted in an amazing assortment of desserts, fruits, and other fantastic food. A HUGE thank you to Tom and Cori Lee for organizing and coordinating the event, to all the volunteers who helped with promoting, setting up, decorating, and cleaning up, and to all the families who donated the amazing food items. The desserts were plentiful and absolutely delicious!! We also want to thank the Reston Community Center for ensuring everything went without a hitch, and to the wonderful musicians for all their efforts! We are very excited for the event to return in 2023!
