We had a great turnout for the November Boosters Board meeting and covered a LOT of ground! Here are some of the highlights:

• Mr. Fore shared details on the FCPS return to performing arts. The plan is for optional in-person activities for small groups to begin around November 30th. Details will vary school-to-school and teacher-to-teacher. SLHS administration supports in-person opportunities for interested band students. 
• Our first ever Virtual Tag Day was a huge success, netting over $20K! With a generous corporate donation and the Virtual 5K proceeds, we are in a comfortable financial position at this time. There will be no more fundraisers through the end of 2020 - we will focus on creating a great experience for our students. 
• The Student Reps shared results from their student survey, including positive feedback on “Band Together Fridays,” great suggestions for future events, and comments on the classroom experience for Mr. Fore. The survey also collected information from freshmen that we’re already using to enhance their band experience.
• Plans are underway for a uniform cleaning/inventory day (December 12th), a virtual social gathering for band parents (date TBA), and a virtual pyramid outreach event (in January).

We’re looking for volunteers for two positions. The positions won’t take up too much of your time, but they are very important to band. Please review the volunteer positions below and email Melanie at [email protected] if you are interested. Thanks!

• Sponsor Coordinator: Keeps a list of sponsors and makes sure they are sent to the communications team to get recognized.
• Social Media Coordinator: This is the position for someone who loves Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram. Help get our info out!

Our first ever Virtual Tag Day(s) campaign has been running for a little more than a week and we are approaching 79% of our goal!  The generosity of our friends, family, and community in support of our bands is truly amazing and we are very grateful for everyone who has donated and reached out to their networks via email and social media thus far.

We have some even more exciting news!  An anonymous donor has created a challenge to help us reach our goal.  Starting at noon on October 31st and through the next week (we're extending our deadline), up to $3500 in donations will be MATCHED 100% by this donor!  If you haven't donated yet, this would be a great time to email your pledge form (attached) to [email protected] -- we have extended the deadline for pledge forms to THIS MONDAY, November 2nd. Your donation and corporate matching by your employer count toward incentives (the challenge match does not count toward incentives). Please submit a pledge form whether you donate by check or online so we can be sure to order enough incentives!
