The holidays often bring fun musical opportunities our students can take part in. Here are some in our area:
1. Tuba Christmas - Various dates and locations. Check out details and download music here: http://www.tubachristmas.com Here are the two events closest to us - both happening THIS WEEK: MONDAY, DECEMBER 9: Washington, DC -The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Registration at 3pm, Rehearsal at 4pm, Performance at 6pm : 6:00 pm. See the website for important details on parking, attire, what to bring, etc. registration fee is covered by the Kennedy Center SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15 - Leesburg, VA - Village at Leesburg. Registration at 12:30pm, No Rehearsal, Performance at 2:00 pm. Participant registration fee is $10.00. Check website for more details. 2. Trombone Christmas - Saturday, December 21st in Harrisonburg, VA - Register by December 10th. Same site - same prices - and a portion of your purchase price (as much as 10% on some items!) goes to the Band Boosters. This is not the same as Amazon Smile (this program yields much higher returns.) On Thursday, December 5th, we will host the SLHS Pyramid Band Bonanza from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. This is a recruitment event for pyramid band students in grades 4-8. JOIN US!!! On Saturday, December 7th from 4-6pm we will be hosting a fundraising event at Kendra Scott in Reston Town Center. Come find the perfect holiday gift and support the band at the same time. 20% of sales during our event will go directly back to the band. It is a fun and easy way to support the band program and get your holiday shopping off to a good start, or finish if you are very organized. Please pass the attached flyer onto your family and friends. Phone orders taken during our time will also be counted in the final total. As always, thanks for your support
