We are happy to be hosting a Mattress Sale on Sunday, November 17, 2019 sponsored by Mattress Fundraising Solutions, a company owned by band parent Sharad Vyas. Over the next few weeks we will be working with Sharad to advertise the sale through online and print marketing. On the day of the sale we will need some student and parent volunteers to help promote and chaperone. A Sign Up Genius will be out soon with specific needs but please keep the date open. Last year we made over $3000 and hope to due even better this year. There will be a special incentive for students that help promote and bring in customers! Proceeds from the sale will help fund band activities and an end of year day trip.
Please join us in Sterling, VA at Dominion High School to cheer on your band! We are lucky to have this competition locally so it is a great time to see our amazing new uniforms and see our Vikings in Action. Performance time is 7:15 but plan to get there early for parking, tickets and to see our competition. Tickets are $10 for adults (12+), $5 for Kids (5-11) and free for the little ones. Don't forget to register for Band Day with the GMU Green Machine. The event is on Saturday, December 7th. We have several former students currently with this nationally renowned ensemble, including staff member Kamron Rose. The events include an optional campus tour for students interested in learning more about GMU, as well as the chance to perform with Green Machine at a basketball game. The band has an ambitious fundraising goal this year and corporate sponsorships are an easy way to raise money. The sponsorship letter is posted on the South Lakes Band website - please share with your favorite local business. If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
It’s Time to Celebrate our Marching Band Seniors!
Senior night is coming up on Friday, October 11th. This does represent a change from the schedule published last spring. SLHS administrators decided that the Langley game on 10/11 is a better option to focus on our Seahawk seniors than the Herndon game on 11/8. Senior night applies to football, cheer, dance team and marching band.
The band community celebrates with a Band Family Dinner before the game, then seniors and their family members are recognized individually at halftime. CLICK HERE for more information on the dinner and to RSVP & sign up to bring a side dish (the main course, dessert and drinks are provided.) PLEASE RSVP NO LATER THAN SUNDAY 10/6 so we can order the correct amount of food. Senior families, watch for an email from Mr. Fore with more details on your special evening!
