The Nominating Committee has been hard at work reaching out to parents about playing volunteer roles next year. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help and/or are currently considering roles! If we have not contacted you, please do not assume that we don't want or need your help! We don't always know who is interested or what particular skills/passions our parents have and would like to use to support our wonderful band students!
We are looking for many people (especially our underclassmen parents) to take an active role next year as we are losing a large number of Board members to graduating students.
If you have questions or ideas and/or would like to play a role next year - on the board, as a task lead, as part of a team, or in any capacity - please email any of the nominating committee below. We would love to chat with you!
Here are the Board member roles. We have already identified people for some of these but we are making all roles and their details available to everyone.
President: The President shall preside at all meetings of the Band Boosters and the Executive Board, and shall have general supervision over the affairs of the Band Boosters subject to the direction and control of the Board. With the advice and consent of the Executive Board, the President shall appoint Band Booster members to serve as Standing Committee Chairpersons. The President shall be an ex officio member of these committees excepting the Nominating Committee. With input from the membership and Board, the President shall establish meeting agendas. The President will sign and submit tax documents to appropriate authorities on an annual basis. In addition, the President shall guide the Board in the development and upkeep of the Band Booster 5-year plan.
1st Vice President – Fundraising Director: The 1st Vice President shall perform all duties of the President should the President be absent and shall assist in carrying out the objectives of the Band Boosters. The 1st Vice President shall serve as the Fundraising Committee Chairperson.
2nd Vice President – Policy and Programs Director: The 2nd Vice President shall perform the duties of President should both the President and the 1st Vice President be absent and shall assist in carrying out the objectives of the Band Boosters. The 2nd Vice President will chair the Policy and Program Committee.
Communications Director: The Communication Director will chair the outreach and communication functions including media relations, publicity, social media, and Band Booster’s website.
Secretary: The Secretary shall record minutes of board meetings and general meetings, issue notices for all meetings, and perform such other duties as prescribed by the Band Boosters and the Executive Board.
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall collect and keep all monies of the Band Boosters in banks designated by the Executive Board, maintain a regular book of accounts (which shall be reviewed at the end of the fiscal year), submit a summary report at an early meeting of the following administrative year, and perform all of the duties usually associated with the office. The Treasurer shall cooperate with the Finance Committee in administering the budget and shall assist in the preparation of tax forms.
Performance Chair: The performance chair will head up logistics for all concerts and marching band home and away performances and competitions. This role also covers uniforms and tailgates. We are considering splitting this role into two, as it is a large one, but there are always many, many people to help.
